Revised project list

The same yet redesigned from the ground up – a new overview of projects

We subjected the project lists to thorough testing and reflection. We took them apart element by element, row by row, so that the lists are clear and you do not get lost in them. The result is a very similar look, but markedly more ordered, refined and with better-solved colors.

Colors and other design changes such as contrasts, spacing and row distinction help address the frequent feedback that the current list blurs together and is hard to navigate. Overviews are one of the most important pages in Projektově, so you simply have to find your way around them. To help with that as much as possible, a new layer of hierarchy is added to them – structural folders, which we briefly wrote about in the first "changes" article.

Every project now also has the option to have its own emoji – all of this for an even better and, more importantly, personalized distinction. In addition to the system and rules we have defined, you can also set up your own emoji system. It could look, for example, like this:

PS: Emoji are optional and you do not have to use them at all.

For projects that contain overdue tasks, orange now lights up thanks to another new feature – project health.

Project health

The project health indicator is one of the main highlights of Projektově 2. With it we focus not only on the application, but also on education in project management and on helping with projects as such. We want to help every team get to better projects and happier people – that is how we see our role.

Project health
Entirely optional but, in our view, important is the project health indicator. Similar to fitness watches, it shows us how we are doing. Right in the list, without having to open the projects one by one.

We call this the "fitness" of projects informally, and we will cover it in various forms, such as articles, videos or webinars. We will actively offer you content that helps you keep your projects in shape.

Emoji

You can now mark any project with your own picture – an emoticon. For example, label VIP projects with 🚀, projects that need more work with ❗or add a black mark ⚫ to service projects for late payers.

Projects marked in this way are visible in the list from far away. Again, I do not even have to open the project or read it to know it deserves attention.

List after with emoji

And not only that, tabs with an open project or task contain these emoticons as well. The emoticon follows the project throughout the application and forms a visual anchor that hints which project the task belongs to.

Another news in the project list is enabling the context menu on right-click. Until now it was necessary, for example for archiving, to use the three-dot menu placed on the right edge of the screen. On large monitors this is rather unfortunate, since you can easily misclick or it is "far away".

Now it is possible to right-click on a row and choose the desired action right away.

Templates

So far they were part of the project list. It is a working solution, but there is room for improvement here as well. For example, few people know that for repeated activities they can prepare task templates.

Just like projects, templates have been given their own space in the main menu. This way they are clearly distinguished from projects. The list is split into project and task templates. It still holds that only authorized users have access to them and can change them. And of course, you can turn a project into a template and the other way around.

Project archive

The archive of finished projects has also gained its own place in the main menu. Previously it was rather hidden, accessible only after digging into the project list, and was not particularly user-friendly. Now that it has its own place in the main menu, we were able to implement it better. Moreover, we want to encourage you to archive more – projects should be either active, closed or archived. Projects that no one visits and where nothing is happening, yet they still sit in the list, make life significantly harder for all your colleagues, and they deserve proper care. That is another reason why the Archive now has its own place.
